　では，カードを楽しむためのゲームデザインというのは，どういったものなのでしょうか。

　通常のオンラインゲームやソーシャルゲームですと，運営側からどんどんミッションを配信してそれをクリアしてもらったり，ゲーム中のアイテムを手に入れてもらったりと，そういう方向に進むのですが，オーナーズリーグはあくまでプレイヤー同士がカードを集めながら楽しむ「場」を提供するイメージが強いんです。ですから，ミッション的なものであるとか，クリアするためのハードルを次々と提供するのではなく，仲間同士で遊ぶことがスムーズになるとか，よりストレスを感じなくなるというところに気を配っています。

　全国大会に「第何回」などのタイトルつけていませんが，そういう考えの表われでしょうか。

　そうですね。「僕は第何回の優勝者だ」と記録が残ってしまうと，どうしてもコレクションしたくなると思うんですね。そういった，ゲーム側にたまっていくものを，あえて排除しています。開発中も「オンラインゲームだったら育成要素は入れるべき」という提案を何回も言われて，その度に否定しました。オーナーズリーグではゲーム側に蓄積があってはダメなんです。もしそうなると，手元のカードよりもゲーム中のデータが第一になってしまいます。「重ね」システムによって，複数枚カードを登録するとちょっと能力が上がるという育成的な要素を入れていますが，ゲーム中での育成は入っていません。

　優勝したときに能力的な見返りが欲しいとか，ゲーム開発者であるほど考えてしまいます。普通にオンラインゲームを作るなら僕もそうするんですが，オーナーズリーグに関してはそれは絶対に違うんです。オーナーズリーグでもトロフィーはもらえますけど，あれも画像だけですし，ゲーム中で何かもらうことだけが嬉しいのではなくて，友達からの賞賛であったり，「弱いな」って言われることだって楽しさの一つだと思うんです。だからオーナーズリーグは，ある意味SNSを意識しています。交流の場を提供して快適に使えるようにがんばると。

　なるほど。そのうえで運営上工夫している点というのはありますか。

　現実のプロ野球と連動するシステムにしています。シーズン中は週1回更新で，実際に調子のいい選手を各球団1名ずつ選び，ゲーム中で絶好調にしています（シーズンオフ中はランダム）。プロ野球も見ながら楽しんでほしいと考えていますので，僕達も毎日すべての試合内容をチェックしています。
